Hip, hip, Hurray! We celebrated our 100th day of School! We were busy collecting 100 items to bring to school, making our 100 crown and glasses and our 100 Snack Mix.

Reading: Bugs, bugs, bugs everywhere! We read about the Pill bug and the Mealworms and gathered more information about bugs.  We made an anchor chart with Bugs can, bugs have, bugs are.. We also rotated our guided reading groups and focused on fluency and reading with expression. We also read the book ‘The 100th day of School”, and came up with 100 things that we like in Kindergarten.

Math: We made a 100 Counting Mat with 100 stickers and then counted out our items that we bought in.  We also played a game, “Rolling to 100” with a 100 chart and dice and built something with 100 blocks, shapes, legos.

Writing: We wrote about 100 things we would want and our students came up with some interesting ideas.  Horses, Harry Potter spells, Nail Polishes, Barbie’s and Diamonds to name a few.

Social Studies: We continued our President Unit and made a time-line for our president, Barack Obama.  We also played a few  games from the George Washington Era, Fox and Geese and The Mill.  I would like to thank, Mrs. Claudia Giles, who made these for our classroom! Thank-you! Our students really loved playing these games.

Homework Ideas: (Please send it in to share after it is complete, so we can celebrate your child’s hard work!)
